The Judge’s House at Marsh’s Library was a huge hit with audiences, bringing hundreds of extra visitors to this hidden gem of Irish heritage and attracting highly positive media attention. It’s also a perfect example of how The Performance Corporation use creativity to transform perceptions and excite fresh interest in our heritage.
Funded by Fáilte Ireland’s Sharing Our Stories initiative, The Judge’s House is a gothic audio performance based on a Bram Stoker short story and specially created for the atmospheric surroundings of Marsh’s Library – a regular haunt of Stoker in his Dublin days. The Judge’s House blends a theatrical audio tour with live performance to produce a thrilling gothic experience among the ancient bookshelves of Ireland’s oldest public library. You can listen to an excerpt here. As well as providing a major boost to visitor numbers the event got great coverage and glowing reviews in the press.
The Performance Corporation have always created unique theatrical adventures in unexpected places – from events like Lizzie Lavelle in the sand dunes of County Mayo, to immersive dramas like Swampoodle at Washington DC’s Uline Arena (where The Beatles played their first American concert). Now we’re offering our expertise and vision to the tourism, heritage and museum sectors with the promise of transforming and reinvigorating the visitor experience.
