Power Point has been put to sleep (i.e. to the shed), but I have very little time to be nostalgic. Apart from wrapping up, we are also getting ready for the upcoming Project X in Athy and have several looming application deadlines. The Performance Corporation is also preparing the Irish premiere of its new multi-disciplinary piece Cool Fresh Milk. I was not with the company when it premiered in Berlin in June earlier this year, so in many respects it will be as new to me as to many of you.
I have watched Cool Fresh Milk video on this website and the recording from Berlin’s Electronic Church. The mix of live electronic music by Jo Thomas, text by Tom Swift and Lisa Lambe performing promises to be very exciting. The team is rehearsing in Castletown House tomorrow, to revive the piece and make it ready for the performance in the Darklight Festival. I am looking forward to meeting the electronic music composer Jo Thomas. Have a listen to her pieces www.myspace.com/jothomaselectrosound (feel free to leave a comment here to let us know how you find it).
Another new aspect of Cool Fresh Milk for me is the venue – Lighthouse cinema in Smithfield. I have produced shows in unusual spaces before, such as most recently Power Point in a hotel conference suite, others in Hugh Lane Gallery, medieval church in Prague, dance studio in Dublin, exhibition space in Paris and my previous background is in film, but a live show in a cinema will be new for me. Bring on the challenge!
